this October day...

this October day marks the third day that the hubby has been gone.   in all honesty..I don't dread him going on his annual hunting trip.  I think the 'only child' in me enjoys the alone time.  Each year I tackle something big...potty training or marking 90% of the Christmas shopping off my list.  however October seems a bit early to Christmas shop.  I must admit its kind of driving me crazy...not having a big project to accomplish.  
today I dressed the kids up in their halloween costumes to take a few photos.   halloween eve always is busy with and brewing with excitement, so its hard to get a few good shots and be in the moment.  we had the best time running around, middle of the day dressed up, just being silly, laughing.  its true what they say...the simple things in life are the best.  
so if it rains on halloween {60% chance here as of today} it will be okay. my halloween was made today.  just me and my boys.  hearing them laughing at each other, leaves crunching under their feet, was perfect.

fall fun recap...

Here is a little recap of just some of the fall fun we've had.  We kicked off fall with our annual trip to Gentry Farms.  This was the first year that we were bundled up and still freezing.  I kept thinking of the first time we took Ethan to the pumpkin patch and I was so excited to take Bennett this year...our littlest pumpkin:)

As room-mom for Ethan's class, I am responsible for hosting the Halloween Party.  The kiddos dressed up, ate treats, made skeletons, and played pin the smile on the the skeleton.  It was lots of fun to see Ethan in his class with all of the friends.  

We had a pumpkin carving party in our neighborhood.  It was so much fun....we had chili, made smores, carved pumpkins, and mingled with friends.  What a great time!  We are blessed to have neighbors who have turned into such great friends.

Ethan was really into spider man this year.  I have no idea how he knows about spider man, but lets just say he was really into it.  I think all 3 year boys are right now  He is definitely turning from a toddler into a boy.  Every time he put that suit on....he transforms into this guy:

trick or treating....he ran the entire time like he has been doing this for years:)

our halloween day...

This year Ethan and I kicked off our Halloween day with a walk on what I call, "The Best Halloween Street."  The homes are historical and the people go all out decorating.  The leaves were in big leaf piles along side the street and it was the perfect Fall morning for a walk.  The photos were taken with my iphone while walking so they aren't the best.

fall festival fun...

 

Yesterday Ethan attended his very first Fall Festival at his school.  He had a blast going down slides, jumping in the moon bounce, petting animals, playing booth games, and eating yummy {and very healthy-wink} Halloween snacks.  Ethan's class basket this year was an "arts and crafts" theme.  David helped me arrange the basket late Friday night after work.  There was so much donated we had to use two baskets!  Wouldn't you love to win this to have stashed in your closet for a rainy day? 

 

All of the classrooms collected pennies to donate to the Down's Syndrome Association.  Ethan's class came in 3rd place!  In the photo above Ethan is getting a "Frankenstein" painted on his face.  Of course we had to get a Frankenstein to match his shirt!  Enjoying the day with him made David and I reminisce about our own fall festival days in elementary school.  Weren't they the best?
